History

Casey Cardinia Community Legal Service Inc. commenced operating in 1977, as an initiative of the parents of what was then the Doveton Secondary College.  It was originally know as the Doveton and District Legal Service Co-Operative Ltd. In its early days, the legal service was run by  law students  supervised by tutors from Monash University and operated for one day and one evening per week.

Since then, CCCLS has expanded and operates on a full time basis, with advice and referral provided on a strictly ‘appointment only’ basis.

Funding

CCCLS is funded by State & Federal Government,   Casey Council, Taxi Services Commission Victoria and Department of Justice. This website was kindly funded by the Victoria Law Foundation. We are also very grateful for the generous donations of The Dandenong Club. Thank you, too to the many kind clients who have donated to our service from time to time. CCCLS always  welcomes donations.  All donations over $2.00 are tax deductible. State and Federal Funding is administered by Victoria Legal Aid.

Family Violence Duty Lawyer Service

CCCLS conducts the family violence duty lawyer service at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court, 3 days per week. The legal service also has a special relationship with WAYSS Ltd and gives special assistance to clients of WAYSS Ltd. CCCLS provides community legal education to both victims of family violence and perpetrators.

Partnership with Berwick Family Relationship Centre

CCCLS has been funded by the Commonwealth Government to work in partnership with the Berwick Family Relationship Centre. The service gives face to face and phone advice to clients from the FRC. Our lawyers also assist in the family dispute resolution sessions from time to time.

Volunteers

CCCLS  receives the assistance from many student volunteers, who perform administrative and paralegal tasks both at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court and in the main office. Solicitor volunteers provide advice at the evening service. If you would like to volunteer with our centre, please email your resume to This email address is being protected from spambots.
